Re:Legend by Magnus Games is a farming simulation RPG I’ve been waiting to play for quite some time! Thanks to the publishers at 505 Games, we now have a Steam code to try it out and tell you all about it! Re:Legend is still in Early Access and continues to receive patches and updates often and therefore, I decided to do this feature in sections over time. Below you will see a video of my first in-game day along with the befriending with my first Magnus!
Creating my character was a lot of fun because of the unique hairdo choices, the adorable aesthetics, and the vibrant colors. I was so excited to start farming and raising some Magnus that I haven’t put much thought into the story of Re:Legend. The first second of playing, your character gets tossed off a cliff. You’ve got my attention! Then, my first couple nights of sleeping in my bed, I’m being haunted by a ghost trying to tell me something. I’m assuming it has something to do with whatever we’ve forgotten and need to remember, how intriguing!
I’m eagerly awaiting the next update which will include the use of controllers for the game because that is my preference whenever action or battling is involved. The only other difficulties I had was taming the Draconewt as it wasn’t clear that “remaining in the middle” meant going the opposite direction of the arrow shown. Moreover, once you’ve given the required food to a Magnus to raise their affection toward you, you have to mount them and calm them. Personally, I find that to be a bit of a chore if I’m going to try and “catch em’ all”. However, your cave/barn area does seem rather large with dividing rooms so I can’t wait to see a bunch of Magnus roaming around!
When exploring my farm, there is a decent plot size for gardening, a pond area to keep some fish, a crafting area for better gear, and a hot spring to replenish some stamina! The map of Vokka Island alone will take a lot more exploring, so all of Ethia will keep me busy questing for quite a long time. I’ll definitely have to be better prepared to go out there again because dying means returning to the town’s hospital (and to the next day), and your Magnus returning to your farm. So far though, I’m in love with every villager I’ve met and can’t wait to get to know them better, especially Emilia. I’ll also do anything for those little penguin villagers.

This gorgeous open-world adventure and simulation game developed by Eastshade Studios is available now on Steam here. You can catch up with the details of Eastshade in our last article here. Now, the developers have announced a specific date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions, and it’s just around the corner! Look forward to exploring this island full of beauty, mystery and unique inhabitants as a wandering painter this October 21st, 2019!
Take photographs of these stunningly beautiful environments of forests, lakes, hills and long forgotten places. Then, watch how they become paintings on your canvases! The sights are so peaceful and the graphics so realistic that I absolutely can’t wait t play this game on consoles! Instead of being the hero of games like Skyrim, Divinity Original Sin, etc, I can see what it would be like to be one of those merchants you see selling their wares. See below for a new extended trailer of Eastshade celebrating this great news!

The Good Life is a simulation RPG developed by SWERY and Yukio Futatsugi, as well as the teams at White Owls and G-rounding. You play as New-Yorker Naomi, who moves to a strange town to pay off her debts by selling her photography. You’ll get to snap photos for money all while investigating the town’s murder and secret! A secret that includes cats and dogs…See the new Alpha Gameplay Video by the developers below to learn more about The Good Life!
I previously mentioned here that the game will be releasing sometime in the Fall of 2019, however The Good Life has been delayed to Spring 2020 in order to release the game in its best form. The game is still set to release on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One, and you can pre-order a copy right here! You’ll notice that the Nintendo Switch version is left out and that is because it was a large Stretch Goal during their Kickstarter campaign. Unfortunately, the developers didn’t meet this goal. However, I’m still holding out hope that they will find another way to fund it.
Several improvements have been made to The Good Life since that announcement including: better and more detailed graphics, a larger map, additional characters and their animal counterparts, gardening, fulfillment needs for Naomi, new items, and more! Below are some images from those new additions and from their September 2019 update. It looks like it will be so much fun to explore these new snowy mountains for beautiful scenery shots, and the mines for some clues perhaps? This Tater will keep you posted as I continue to keep an eye on The Good Life’s progress.

Since I last played and reviewed Littlewood here, the sole developer Sean Young has made many improvements to this adorable farming simulation game. I rather enjoyed the pixel style graphics of the game, getting to know all of the villagers and fulfilling the requirements for them to move permanently, as well as shaping my whole town to my liking. The game is available now on Steam Early Access and continues to receive updates, such as this most recent and rather large feature added; Tarott Monster.
Now we can start collecting various Tarott Cards and do battle with certain villagers during big competitions that are annually held in Dirboros! The story behind these cards has to do with the fact that there are real monsters sealed away in them since the Dark Wizard’s defeat. There are 5 duelists to beat with varying elemental cards and they are as follows: Bridgette (Fire), Alister (Earth), Maya (Water), Lucius (Light), and Erika (Dark).

Not only will it be satisfying to collect these spooky, whimsical, and cute little cards but if you can manage to defeat The Big Five, you’ll receive some never-before-seen items such as badges, furniture like lamps and tables, as well as cool-looking statues to put on display! Meet your challengers at the new Card Shop and see if you have what it takes to win! Also, how fun is it to have a game inside of a game?!

This update is now live and Sean Young has Tweeted that his next focus for the game is to implement “Littlewood’s Pet System”. Below you can see an image of a cat and a dog which I am all too excited to learn more about! Don’t forget that Littlewood has also been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch so there’s a lot more coming our way.

Coffee Talk is a narrative game currently in development and production by Toge Productions. You may know Toge for games like She and the Light Bearer or Magicat.
Although seemingly dark, we find Coffee Talk to be a warm and relaxing story of everyday problems through the lens of magic.
Set in an alternate version of Seattle, Washington, you will be a barista serving fantastical patrons. As rain fills the night outside, you’ll get a glimpse into the lives of orcs, elves, mermaids, and more. You will participate in dialogue with customers while also trying to perfect whatever drink they order.

Unlike other narrative-based games, the storylines and decisions will branch not from your dialogue options but from “how you treat and serve the customers of your café.”
A dark and earthy color scheme meets with a ‘90s anime-inspired art style that is both beautiful and calming. On top of that, the music is a jazzy assortment of lo-fi. Toge calls the game “an experience to make you think, feel, and help rest your body and soul.”
Coffee Talk is slated for a PC and Mac release “sometime after midnight” this year. A playable demo is available on Steam, itch.io, or directly from Toge Productions’ website. You can follow updates for the game on Twitter.
Need a relaxing game while you wait? We recommend Unpacking. Want more visual novel games? We’ve got that, too, with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy and What Remains of Edith Finch.
