Pile Up is a cooperative 3D platformer for 1 to 4 players where you play as adorable customizable boxes (Boxlings) and navigate colorful cardboard worlds! Now the developers, Seed by Seed, have made a wonderful announcement that they will be pairing up with publishers HandyGames (El Hijo) and be able to make Pile Up the best it can be!
Not only will you be able to Wishlist this game on Steam, but now it will also be coming to all consoles! Sometime in 2020 you’ll be able to play Pile Up on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC! I’m personally very excited by this news and can’t wait to play!
What we know so far is that there’s a hub world leading to several themed levels that have adorable boxy animals and puzzles to solve by coordinating with friends and using fun items. The developers have even added mini-games you can play together such as the action-packed Boxball, Pile of Dunk and Tic Pile Toe! We here at myPotatoGames have been keeping a close eye on Pile Up since early development. We immediately fell in love with the colorful and cardboad-style environments which included boxy animal characters such as frogs and hedgehogs. Now we’re one step closer to being able to play this adorable 3D cooperative platformer with their new Steam page here! Pile Up! is a 1 to 4 player co-op 3D platformer developed by indie studio Seed by Seed, located in France. Enjoy jumping on your friends and piling together to get to new areas. Explore the colorful cardboard worlds as adorable cardboard boxes! Want to know more about this game? Read up on our previous article of Pile Up! here.
Your Boxlings will start off in a hub world where you enter all worlds via doors and then the levels via portals. Furthermore, the hub is where you can play mini-games and where you can shop to unlock new levels and games. The first level will include an in-depth tutorial where you will learn the game mechanics such as jumping, piling on top of each other, how to use items, etc.
First level in the first world Themes of the Worlds
- First world: tropical islands with some cliffs and where you’ll find tons of hidden frogs and seagulls.
- Second world: a forest during autumn season during dusk. Therefore, there will be a lot of yellow and beautiful golden colors. Here you will meet adorable tiny hedgehogs in the shape of boxes.
- Third world: tall forested mountains that are inhabited by bats.
The first world that includes frogs will also include this new usable item: The Sticky Tongue! It will allow you to grab far away items and to solve complex situations. The Sticky Tongue can also be used on fellow teammates if you want to be that guy.

If you want to try their demo that will include the first level, you can play it at Stunfest in France, Rennes on May 17th-19th, 2019. To watch the full video of their newest devlog, go here.

Pile Up is developed by Seed by Seed, an indie studio based in France. The game has won numerous awards such as “Best Indie Game” in L-Games 2019 and “Official competition at Stunfest” in Rennes 2019. Pile Up will be releasing on PC and a potential for consoles which has yet to be announced. As of now, there is no official release date but you can go to their website here for more information.
