Cubicity: Slide Puzzle is a new puzzle game released on March 20th, 2019 by indie developer, Pirate Parrot. In this cube-tacular puzzler, the player takes control of different animals to help reach their destination and complete the level.

    Content

If you have ever played with a sliding tile puzzle, this game is exactly that but in 3D. The levels increase in difficulty which is refreshing to have a decent challenge in a puzzle game and if difficulty isn’t your thing, you have the option to buy items to help make the levels easier.

    Graphics

The graphics are cube-riffic and adorable which is perfect for this game and feels right. I found myself excited to unlock the next cubic creature as they all look unique and adorable.

    Gameplay

Cubicity: Slide Puzzle is called a “slide” puzzle for a reason, the game wants you to literally slide the animals with your finger. This is a little weird as I don’t own a touch screen monitor for my computer (yet). The controls could feel better with an option to make it compatible with the keyboard but they work.

There are 95 challenging levels to slide through.

    Sounds

The music in the game is similar to that of K.K. Slider in Animal Crossing where it sounds like the animals are the ones singing the tunes which is adorable. As for the gameplay sounds, they were not memorable but with music like this, that’s just fine.

    Content

This game has a decent amount of content including 95 Levels and more being released in the future. The developer has also announced a level designer which will be released at some point as well.

    Final Thoughts

Cubicity: Slide Puzzle runs for $4.99 on Steam, which is a good price given the amount of levels and amount of cubic fun it offers. If you like puzzle games and animals, this one is worth taking a look at the next time you’re looking for a challenge. Happy Gaming!

This article is based on a very early demo version of the game.

Littlewood is a new RPG where you play the role of a hero who has completed their quest of defeating the evil wizard, saved the world of Solemn, and is now trying to rebuild the town of Littlewood. Being developed by the indie developer Sean Young, Littlewood brings an interesting spin to the usual town building simulator by melding together aspects of familiar games like Minecraft and Animal Crossing

In Littlewood, you get to fully customize your town. This doesn’t just include building homes for townsfolk, plotting farming areas, furnishing your home AND the townsfolk’s homes, but it also includes customizing the elevation of the land and choosing where to put bodies of water. This interesting element of customizing the terrain brings an extra touch to making the town your own.

Along with customizing the terrain of your town, there are also tons of activities to keep you busy like gathering resources, catching bugs/fish, farming, cooking, crafting, buying/selling goods, building relationships with new friends, and even becoming a master of tarot card readings.

Picture above is some of the interesting townsfolk you will get to know in Littlewood.

Littlewood is scheduled for release in May 2019 and already has a Steam page, so there’s not much more of a wait. If you’d like to check out the game right now, there is a free demo over on the game’s Kickstarter.

Be sure to stay tuned to myPotatoGames for the latest information on Littlewood and other games.  Happy Gaming!

A Reddit user has shared the exciting response he got from Kan Gao, who is the designer, writer, composer, and director of popular game To The Moon.

In the exchange between the user and the developer, the user enthusiastically asks whether there are any plans for the game to come to Nintendo Switch. Although rather cryptic, the developer appears to confirm a Switch release (or at least plans for one) in his reply.

A screen capture of messages exchanged between the Reddit user and game developer Kan Gao

However, it’s important to bear in mind that an official announcement confirming the port has not yet been made.

    About the game:

To The Moon is a Story-Rich indie Adventure game with a plot somewhat reminiscent of popular sci-fi thriller series Black Mirror. Although the game was released for Windows back in 2011, it is still highly regarded. This is evident with ‘overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on Steam (where the game is often praised for its emotive narrative), and in the fact that the game was also released for MacOS and Linux in 2014, and for Android and iOS in 2017.

    Story: (Contains some spoilers)

To The Moon features two doctors who are capable of giving patients on their deathbeds another chance to live, right from the beginning. The only catch is that the experience is only in the patient’s head, and that they will die once they reach the end of that life.

The game focuses on an elderly patient named Johnny, and the two doctors’ attempt to fulfill his lifelong dream. As they uncover fragments of his past, it becomes as ‘clear as day’ that Johnny only ever had one real wish; To go ‘To The Moon’.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s no secret that pixel-art-stylized games are popular right now (we even recently wrote an article about our favourites). Pixel-art-stylized video game fans will be pleased to hear that there is another game in development. Developer’s Aloft Studios are currently working on a Zelda-inspired game entitled Hazelnut Bastille, which they hope will bring some retro vibes and SNES magic to the Nintendo Switch console.

Hazelnut Bastille is an upcoming Zelda-esque 16-bit JRPG Metroidvania game that has been confirmed for PC, Mac, Linux, and more recently, Nintendo Switch. The game has been compared to Chrono Trigger and Golden Sun. It currently has a tentative mid to late 2020 release window.

Aloft Studios is a small indie game studio who have emphasised that quality is of utmost importance to them.

Additionally, composer Horoki Kikuta (who is known for his work on Secret of Mana) has joined the Hazelnut Bastille team as a celebrity guest composer.

Aloft Studios have given the following information about the game in a previous interview with Nintendo Life:

“The timescale for this release will either be simultaneous with our PC / Mac / Linux release, or following some months after, as funding and development time ultimately allows, but we would very much like to see a release across all four of our starter platforms if it proves possible!”

“Hazelnut Bastille, for PC, Mac, and Linux, and now Nintendo Switch, is a lush, topdown Metroidvania in a 16bit JRPG style, which seeks to continue the great lineage of superior design from the mid 90’s- the moment in time when mainstream 2D titles reached arguably their greatest level of refinement, in titles such as Super Metroid and Link to the Past. We seek to emulate this period in most ways, from graphic presentation to audio production, to general level design philosophy. Hazelnut Bastille tells the story of a young woman who travels to a foreign shore on the outskirts of her world, in order to seek out the promised gifts of mythological ancients, in hopes of retrieving something which was lost to her. On the way, her story becomes irrevocably intertwined with the lives of those living in this far off land.”

Kickstarter for the game launches today (23/10/18).
