It is likely painfully obvious that MyPotatoGames adores Animal Crossing. Additionally, as a website that provides wholesome video game news, it seemed imperative to create the following article. An article that is a crossover between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and various games which get a thumbs up from MPG.
It is true that we have featured some video game design ID codes in previous articles. However, this crossover article features a huge variety of some seriously cool video game-themed Animal Crossing: New Horizons designs that you can use in the game.
Getting the custom designs app on your NookPhone will allow you to create your own designs and to scan QR codes created by others into your game. However, in regards to clothing with QR codes, you will only be able to place tiles, or wear designs as tank tops. However, you can use Nook Miles to purchase the Pro Design upgrade. The upgrade can be purchased from the Nook Stop terminal at Residents Services for a reasonable 800 Nook Miles.
This will allow you to create different items of clothing as ‘Pro Designs’. There are various types of clothing you can then choose from. Examples include balloon-hem dresses, hoodies, sweaters, coats and more. You can also scan QR codes of Pro Designs from New Leaf.
However, to do this, you need to unlock the Able Sisters clothing shop on your island. In New Horizons, the Able Sisters don’t just sell clothing. The prickly pair have a curious kiosk located at the back of their store. Here, you can save and share designs made in Animal Crossing: New Horizons via Creator ID codes, or Individual Design ID codes.
Providing you have a Switch Online Membership, (and have purchased the Pro Design upgrade), you can use this feature. And despite the game being just a few months old, there are already an astounding number of awesome fanmade designs via the kiosk’s portal. Here are just a few of the best gaming-themed ones:
And as the top potato of MyPotatoGames, Henry naturally had to have his very own t shirt as well 😆🥔

Snacko is an adorable upcoming farming simulation adventure game. The game is currently in development by indie studio bluecurse, which consists of husband and wife, Jordan and Erisa. Snacko has a tentative release date of 2021 for PC via Steam and itch.io, and will hopefully make its way to other consoles shortly after.
In Snacko, you play as a cat named Momo, who alongside another cat character named Miman, are based on the indie devs own cats. With a variety of features including farming, fishing, decorating, and exploring, the aim of the game is to recruit animal friends and rebuild an abandoned island where cats (naturally) rule the world!
The cat-tastic indie game’s devs recently posted an update on Snacko in the form of Devlog 18. New features of the game include an in-game camera to take picture purr-fect photos, the ability to place food as decorations (a fitting feature given the game’s title), and the ability to undertake quests.
Players will now be able to take photos when playing Snacko. The game’s camera sits in your equipment slots and can be used like any other equipment to enter photo mode. The camera has a handy viewfinder which allows you to study the world around you. If you find something or someone new, it will show up as ??? Once you’ve snapped a photo, you can save it to your photo album which is accessible through the journal.
If you already follow Snacko on Twitter, then the chances are you may have already guessed this. Players will now be able to place food as decorations in the game. The devs have begun adding 3D models to Snacko for all the different foods available. This feature will allow you to make your home more cozy, or “you can just place random loaves of bread around town”.
The game’s indie developers have begun to implement quests and the bulletin board to Snacko. Quests are a great way to learn the ropes of farming with the added bonus of simultaneously getting some awards. You may even be able to use the game’s camera feature to snap some pics that meet certain requirements and share them with fellow townsfolk.
Previously, the areas where you could build in Snacko were limited to specific places on the game’s map. Now, however, building areas have opened up to the majority of your farm and the town where there’s flat terrain. This will allow you to do things like line dirt paths with fences and place things along the side of the map.
Alongside these new features, a few comparison photos were shared showing how the game has developed graphics-wise since last year. To see these pictures and read more about the game’s progress, you can check out the devlog here.
Snacko is currently in development and is scheduled to release on PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021, it’s a little bit to go but perfection can’t be rushed, right?
If you love pets as much as I do make sure to take a look at my new robot pet, Snicker!

We’ve been following Greg Lobanov’s work on this game, formerly known as Drawdog as the working title, and now we have the full title and the whole picture (pun intended)! Greg Lobanov is an indie game designer based in Vancouver, Canada, and has designed, programmed, and written many indie games. For example: Wandersong, Coin Crypt, Phantasmaburbia, and more. Chicory: A Colorful Tale launched on Kickstarter just yesterday and before we even got the chance to write this article, it surpassed its goal! With 29 more days to go, you can still make a pledge on the Kickstarter campaign here and get in on those rewards/backerkits!
Chicory: A Colorful Tale is an adventure game about a dog wielding a magic paintbrush! Use the power of art to explore, solve puzzles, help your animal friends and restore color to the world. The Brush is a one-of-a-kind artifact that can color the world. Naturally, it needs a wielder, a master artist responsible for all colors and for passing the brush down. The current wielder, Chicory, is immensely talented and beloved by all… until all the color in the land vanishes, and her with it! I guess that leaves it up to you, her number one fan, to take up the brush and fill in for her. Hmm… good luck!
The creators of Chicory have put together some really awesome in-game rewards as well as various artwork and merchandise created by the team’s very own artists; Alexis Dean-Jones and Madeline Berger. In addition, that team also includes: Lena Raine and Em Halberstadt, the composer and sound designer respectively. See the list below for the goodies you can look forward to as a backer.
We here at myPotatoGames can’t wait to help Chicory paint the whole world! Most importantly, you’ll be able to too when the game releases sometime in “202X” on Steam (PC, Mac).

Boundless is a subscription-free MMO maintained by optional in-app purchases. Hunt, trade, craft, build an empire with friends and become Boundless. This action/adventure RPG developed by indie studio Wonderstruck and published by Square Enix released on Steam and PS4 (PSN) back in 2018. Now there’s been a large and significant update since July 16th, 2019 so you can get back into the game online and enjoy the Harvest Era! Our bread and butter just so happens to be farming here at myPotatoGames so we highlighted that new addition below!
The developers stress that Boundless has very unique farming a variety of different angles. Even the crops themselves should be pretty interesting. For example, some of the things you’ll be able to cultivate include;
Use the new farming tools such as The Hand Tiller to prepare the soil for crops, and the two new Fertilizers which will help increase the yield of said crops. There are many modifiers in place which will affect the success and productivity of a farm, such as soil type, nearby vegetation, and proximity to water. The right combination of each of these will allow crops to grow faster and more abundantly, so green-fingered Citizens will have plenty of room for experimentation. There are also new Skills to build in farming, allowing characters to become specialists in this area of the game. Irrigation is one of those important factors, whether that be with water for above ground crops, or lava for some of the more exotic offerings.
To find out more about the Harvest Era update specifically, you can go to their updates on Steam right here. Furthermore, you can continue reading below if you are unfamiliar with this game and the general gameplay.

Fans of Harry Potter and Little Witch Academia will be pleased to hear that there are currently two very exciting magic school games in development. Whilst Chucklefish’s game, which has the working title of ‘Witchbrook’ is still in its early stages, Ikenfell is much further in development. Ikenfell is expected to be released around June 2018.
Interestingly, both games use pixel game art, are simulation games, and are (obviously) set in a magic school. However, they both have unique art styles, with Chucklefish’s game Witchbrook having visual similarities to their very popular game, Stardew Valley.
Ikenfell is a JRPG game which utilises turn-based and timing-based battle mechanics. These mechanics enhance it’s variety of characters and story development. It’ creator has said it’s art style was influenced by a plethora of games such as Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Earthbound (Witchbrook, Starbound, Earthbound, Warbound, everything-bound!), and Robotrek. The game also takes i nspiration from fictional teen series such as Harry Potter and Carry On.
The game’s publisher is Humble Bundle, and its platforms are PC, Mac and possibly Linux. Humble Bundle are helping to polish the game, market it, and will soon add it to Steam.
An update from the game’s founder talks of the release of a new game trailer at the beginning of 2018, so look out for that!
Currently, the game takes around 20 hours to complete (possibly more for less experienced players).
Safina is invited to the magical school of Ikenfell for witches and wizards, leaving behind her slightly embittered sister Maritte, who doesn’t have magic powers. Safina soon becomes one of the school’s most notorious students.
However, Safina doesn’t return home one summer. She has gone missing alongside the school’s headmistress.
You play as Maritte, who goes to Ikenfell to find her sister and discover the truth of what exactly is going on.
The expansive school is full of ‘magic, mysteries, secret passages, hidden rooms, and many strange characters’ for you to explore.
Witchbrook is an up and coming RPG turn-based strategy simulation game in development by Chucklefish, the creators of Wargroove and publishers of Stardew Valley. Finn Brice, the founder and director of the game says that a formal announcement is “maybe quite a way off”. He also suggests that the game is around a three-to-four year project. The working title Witchbrook came from Chucklefish’s game Wargroove’s working title, Warbound.
Influences on the game include a variety of old Nintendo console games (Earthbound again perhaps?), as well as games such as Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon and 2D Zelda games. Although not the intention of Chucklefish, many people compare the game’s graphics to Little Witch Academia. However, Brice has said that Ghibli films such as Kiki’s delivery service (which look similar to Little Witch Academia) did influence the game’s art style.
However, unlike Ikenfell, which is heavily story based, the developers want Witchbrook to have the appeal of Stardew Valley where players can simply enjoy being inside a charming world and make it their own.
Similar to Ikenfell, Witchbrook allows players to have relationships with other characters and to go on dates with them. However, these don’t always go to plan, making the game more true-to-life, as opposed to the idealised romance often portrayed in other forms of media.
However, Brice reassures players that even though the developers want to hit home and capture what it’s like to be in school, they want to provide a nice kind of nostalgia for players. Therefore, interactions with other characters won’t be too difficult or ‘horrific’.
Ikenfell has been pretty much complete since late 2016, with the kickstarter campaign being set up to mainly fund:
However, Witchbrook still has plenty of room for development, influences and features.
What would you like to see in Witchbrook?

Last year, you may remember us announcing a 3D animated series based on the heartwarming adventure game of Rakuen.
Rakuen is a beautiful adventure game that features a hospitalised boy, who travels to the fantasy world of Rakuen with his mother. Upon its release, Rakuen was a firm favorite here at MPG, despite flying under the radar a little at first. Since then, however, the game has received overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, earned a rating of 9.5/10 on Polygon, and received a Metascore of 84/100 by Metacritic. Priced at £6.99/USD$9.99, the game offers very good value for money.
On August 10th 2018, Laura Shigihara (the developer and publisher of Rakuen), posted a surprising and exciting trailer to her channel, announcing the future release of a 3D animated Rakuen series, entitled The Farmer in the Sky.
The cute trailer gave us a sneak-peak of what to expect in the animated series, which is set in the whimsical world of Rakuen. Since the trailer’s release, The Farmer in the Sky has been in development by Laura Shigihara and animator Slamacow.
However, fans of Rakuen will be pleased to know that the wait is over, as the first episode of the series, (entitled ‘Too Many Minimoris’) was posted on the YouTube channel of Morizora Studios three days ago on the 13th May. The Rakuen Steam page has confirmed that there will be more future episodes, and therefore to subscribe to the channel.
