Animal Crossing Switch has been announced several months ago, but very little is known about the upcoming game. Nintendo teased fans back in September 2018 with a trailer starring infamous Tom Nook siting at his desk, who ever so calmly announced the long awaited Animal Crossing Switch game.
The big N has been extremely quiet about the upcoming villager simulator ever since. Though recent rumors point at a possible release date of April 29th, 2019.
Furthermore fans of the game have reported that Gamestop employees mentioned April 29th as the release date of the game when placing a pre-order for Animal Crossing Switch at their local Gamestop.
This rumor has been spreading like an unconfined wildfire amongst Animal Crossing fans. While there can always be some truth to rumors, we suggest to take this with a grain of salt. While it does fit Nintendos unspoken rule of releasing a game within 9 months of it’s initial announcement, the big N rarely releases games on a Monday, by now you may have guessed, April 29th is a Monday.
Here is a list of Nintendos recent releases. As you can see most, if not all of the games are being released on a Friday, making April 29th even more unlikely to be the actual release date of Animal Crossing Switch.
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – January 11th, 2019 – Friday
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – December 7th, 2018 – Friday
- Pokémon: Let’s Go – November 16th, 2018 – Friday
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – July 13th, 2018 – Friday
- Super Mario Odyssey – October 27th, 2017 – Friday
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – March 3rd, 2017 – Friday
We are beyond excited to play Animal Crossing Switch on our consoles just like any other die hard AC fan out there, but April 29th is most likely not the actual release date of the game. Let’s not forget that we have not seen gameplay footage, or even a single screenshot of the game yet. Nintendo will most likely announce an Animal Crossing themed direct sometime in the future, just like it did for Animal Crossing Pocket Camp to ensure the game gets enough coverage before it’s release late this year.
There is however some hope left, Animal Crossing: New Leaf was released on June 9th (US), Happy Home Design on July 30th (JP), making a summer release for Animal Crossing Switch still a possibility. Let’s hope for some more information on Animal Crossing Switch soon.
