Handheld gaming has always been popular with mobile gaming on the rise and the Nintendo 3DS still going strong with its huge games library. Today Panic, publisher behind Firewatch and Untitled Goose Game announced they are working on an adorable little handheld device that promises to change gaming with a tiny crank.
PlayDate is a yellow, cute looking device that features a season pass that will bring all new games throughout the year. Games aren’t purchased separately as the device is $149 and will come with the first season pass which includes 12 games.

The tiny crank on the right hand side is not there to charge the device, but is part of the controls. Players can use the crank to controll the game, some games will heavily rely on this and some won’t at all. Panic does promise “… it’s very fun. Extremely fun.” we can’t wait to give it a try ourselves.
There are very few details available right now, but one thing is sure, the device looks super cute and we are intrigued to see what games will become available on the device. Panic will have to compete with amazing handheld games like Animal Crossing, Zelda titles and the ever growing library of mobile games that seems to get better every day.
