[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ast week Blizzard has talked about porting the popular card game Hearthstone to Nintendo Switch, this week Blizzard goes one step further. The action shooter Overwatch is currently only available on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. While Hearthstone is developed on the Unity engine that is greatly supported by Nintendos new console making a port rather easy, Overwatch on the other side requires more ” power ” to run the game, as Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan noted ” I think the problem is, we’ve really targeted our min spec in a way that we would have to revisit performance and how to get on that platform “.

While the Nintendo Switch hardware would be capable of running the game, Blizzard states that it makes it more difficult to add another platform ” Our first couple of patches would come out on PC first and then later on the consoles,” he explained. “And a lot of that is because you’re working with Microsoft and Sony, and you want to be compliant to their ecosystems”. In terms of pure power, the Nintendo Switch has proven to be able to run games comparably well against the Playstation 4, as the comparison gameplay between the two consoles running the same game have shown very little differences – you can watch the Playstation 4 VS Switch comparison video here.

While Blizzard has not made any official announcement yet, the Nintendo Switch would be a great platform to host games like Hearthstone and Overwatch, however it is more likely to see the card game appear on the console first rather than the more complex Overwatch. There is still hope to see these games appear on the new hybrid console as Kaplan states “Just because we’re not on a platform right now, it doesn’t mean we won’t reconsider it in the future, so we stay aware of all these things.”

The game was set to release in 2017, and Nintendo has recently reiterated that the game indeed is still slated for a release later this year. Unlike modern cellphones where the screen is made out of durable and scratch resistant glass, the Nintendo Switch screen is made out of plastic, and can easily be scratched by keys, or anything else that is remotely hard or pointy. The reason for the plastic screen according to Nintendo – is to avoid the screen to shatter into pieces when the console slips out of the hands – and could then potentially be harmful to children.

There are many cases for the Nintendo Switch out there, but only some of them provide the protection you need in a compact size.

The Nintendo Switch Hybrid Cover functions as a protective slim cover, but can also be transformed into a stand, similar to an iPad smart cover. You can see it on Amazon here,
