Hokko Life is desribed as a ‘cosy, creativity filled community sim game’. The game is being developed by Robert Tatnell who runs his own indie game dev company, Wonderscope. Initially Wonderscope intended to both develop and publish Hokko Life. However, this is an understandably big feat for one person. Therefore in April 2020, it was revealed that Wonderscope had ‘teamed’ up with Team 17, who will now publish the game. Team 17 are notorious for publishing games such as My Time at Portia, Overcooked, and Yooka-Laylee. Hokko Life will hopefully release for PC via Steam at some point this year. The price of the game is not yet known.
Hokko Life begins with your player stepping off of a train. Having taken over your very own (albeit a little dusty and old) workshop, you are free to craft and create to your heart’s content.
The quiet village which you now call home needs your design expertise. Help create an endearing town for its inhabitants. Armed with paint and tools, you can design, build and decorate new homes for your new furry friends.
Players can craft materials and combine them how they wish. This allows you to create a variety of cool new furniture and items for the town. By collecting flowers and mixing paints, you can use them to design wallpapers, flooring and even clothing!
Given plenty of design choices, you could design a bright flowery wallpaper set, or instead create an urban-industrial furniture collection. Whatever your taste, with a workshop at hand, you have complete freedom in designing a beautiful town for the townsfolk.
The latest Devlog from the creator of Hokko Life appeared on Steam on May 6th BST. In it, featured some exciting little updates about the game’s progress.
Now working with Team 17, Wonderscope have stated that ‘epic updates to Hokko Life’ have apparently already been made! The ones mentioned in the Devlog include:

In April, Robert started work on allowing players to edit the design of objects in the world, by simply interacting with them. Until that point, players had to return all the way to their workshop in order to edit a design. They would also need that object in their backpack to do this. (Sound familiar to Animal Crossing: New Horizons crafting and customization peeves? 😂). Now, however, if players spot something that they want to edit, they can do so from anywhere in the world.
Robert says in the Devlog that he will continue to think of ways to make the game more convenient and fun to play. He wishes to remove anything that might be a hassle to players in order to improve their gaming exprience. (Take notes, Nintendo 😂).
Another small change could possibly be the ability to evolve your players avatar. The information about this is in a recent Hokko Life Patreon post from May 15th. However the post is only accessible to the game’s Patreon supporters (which is totally fair btw!). If you are a supporter of the game on Patreon though, and know what this post is about, feel free to enlighten us! We’re curious!
You can check out an exclusive interview with the game’s solo developer, Robert Tatnell here.

Every now and then, it’s nice to have a little spice with our sugar. While Little Misfortune and the world around her is certainly cute, her adventure is steeped in spooky happenings. Take on the role of a young child that would do anything to bring happiness to her mommy. She will brave the unknown with the help of her guide, an ominous narrator by the name of Mr. Voice.
Little Misfortune is currently available on Steam, where it has received many very positive reviews for being super cute and loads of fun. The game will release on Nintendo Switch on May 29th, and will be the same price as it is on Steam, just $19.99. Which, given the reviews on Steam, is a fair price indeed.
⦁ You may pet a doggy, a fishy, a wolfie, the Kraken, the kitty and the foxy.
⦁ Visit a pet cemetery with a shovel.
⦁ Now with real human voices: Hear Misfortune say some pretty cute things!
⦁ Missing children.
⦁ There’s a monster!
⦁ Fall in love.
⦁ Commit petty crimes.
⦁ Original art by Natalia Martinsson.
⦁ Original soundtrack by Isak Martinsson.
For more information on Little Misfortune, you can check out the game on Steam using the link above. You can also visit the games dedicated page on the official Nintendo website.

As you know, I have been keeping an eye on Village Monsters for some time now. It is a relaxing and whimsical adventure game developed by sole creator, Josh Bossie. Take on the role of the last man living in a world inhabited by monsters. With everything that you’d expect from a good life-sim game, with a monstrous twist, Village Monsters is one farming adventure that you won’t want to miss out on.
The most recent update basically revamps the entire gardening aspect. New plants have arrived, and a couple others have either bee re-worked, or just removed due to impracticality. Now, the update is far too large for me to give all the details here, but I will cover the primary aspects. The full details of the gardening update can be found on the Village Monsters Steam page.
“You may now Cultivate plants in your garden. This allows you to perform actions such as watering the plant, adding items to the soil, etc. in order to encourage its growth.”
“Plants can now breed to create new plants automatically.”
“Basic crossbreeding has been added: the look and base plant attributes are based on the mother plant, while growth rates are based on the father plant.”
These few changes barely scratch the surface of what is new in Village Monsters. Josh is always super busy, plugging away to do everything in his power to make Village Monsters a wonderful gaming experience for all.
For more information on this whacky title, as well as the chance to try it for yourself, check out the game on Steam. This indie title is still in early access, and costs just $14.99.To stay up to date on what is going on with Village Monsters and the developer Josh Bossie, be sure to follow the game on Twitter.

Picontier is an upcoming pixel art-stylized miniscape RPG. The game’s 2D art style, alongside its life simulation elements, make it comparable to the likes of Stardew Valley and the original Harvest Moon games.
Picontier is currently in development by game developers Kan Kikuchi, and indie game dev company SKIPMORE, who are best known for their Fairune and Drancia series titles.
The game is being published by Flyhigh Works Co., a company established in 2011 that specializes in localizing Japanese, English, and Chinese titles. They have published numerous notorious and successful titles such as Cat Quest, Cat Quest II, Celeste, Subara City, and more.
It was originally hoped the game would release for a variety of platforms including PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and surprisingly, Nintendo 3DS. However, it will now release solely on PC and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
Picontier is a slow living miniscape RPG game allowing players to enjoy life on a whimsical island after they are washed ashore. Its life simulation elements include farming, crafting, fishing, and mining. Like Stardew Valley, the game also appeals to the more adventurous of gamers by offering excitement. Players can journey to the game’s dungeons to fight monsters.
Additionally, the game contains a charming story and a variety of strange island creatures to communicate with. Some examples include a giant blue water beaver and an enormous cow snoozing on a ranch. The game therefore seems to tick all the boxes where depth is concerned.
Here's an updated #screenshotsaturday of our talkative Blue Beaver, with thanks to @skipmore! Talking to the creatures of the #Picontier world is part of everyday life; you never know, you might learn something interesting! pic.twitter.com/5pN7Essqu3

The following Switch announcement trailer gives an exciting insight into what to look forward to in Picontier
There is currently no set release date for Picontier. However the following tweet posted by Picontier’s Twitter account suggests it could be playable as soon as this year.
A big thanks to all of our fans that have supported #Picontier and our #screenshotsaturday posts this year; we're excited to keep working hard to make the best game possible in 2020! We wish you all Happy Holidays and an amazing New Year! pic.twitter.com/CYhBNPGROx

For those that missed it, Coral Island is an upcoming farming and life-sim game that has a healthy focus on environmental awareness, and cultural representation in video games, not to mention some absolutely wonderful artwork and an ingenious story to tell.
After my in-depth interview with Stairway Games, I learned very much about this most wholesome indie game. Things like what kind of beautiful minds were behind the making of this game, as well as what Coral Island is all about. Now, the developers have divulged even more goodies that we can expect to see in their upcoming epic adventure.
In the recent dev update, we got a close look at some of the characters that we will encounter in the game. Characters such as the local doctor, a marriageable character that takes care of the villagers, loves chess and can often be found shooting billiards when not chilling at the beach shack.
We also got a peek at the Mayor that will be in charge of Coral Island. He is a man well versed in the goings on of Coral Island, as well as having a deep knowledge of the islanders themselves. These are just two of the characters that were revealed in the recent update. Check out the dev blog page to see more.
It wasn’t just NPC’s revealed in the blog post. The developers also shared a bit of what we will see when it comes to the plant and animal life that we will have on our farms. We will get to grow some classic fruits and veggies, like strawberries and potatoes. There will also be some island style vegetation, like starfruit.
When it comes to the animals that we will be raising, not too much has been revealed yet. There will certainly be pigs. And anyone who is aware of what island life is like, you can be sure to expect some chickens clucking about as well.
Now, it be would nigh on impossible to run a successful farm without a home to rest your head when not tending the many needs of the farmstead. The dev update gives us a closer look at the interior of your farm home, as well as what it will be like to customize your home. Yes, you will be able to change the interior to your liking, so that way you can have max comfort in your chill zone.
While I have given a close look here at the update for Coral Islands development progress, there are many more details to be had on the blog page itself, including some goodies you should totally know about.
You can also get much more information by following the game on Twitter, and joining the conversation on Discord.

Build an adorable little Bunny Park for your tiny fur friends in this indie game.
Bunny Park is an adorable little indie game created by no other than Éloïse Laroche. You may have heard this name before since she also made the much beloved Alchemy Story game a farming simulation game with a focus on potion brewing!
Cute and adorable little bunnies have taken over and it is your job to build a tiny little bunny park to give them the home they deserve. There are plenty of options to choose from to decorate your little and soon to be huge park. Add fences, plants and decorate as much as you like to create a charming area for your bunnies.
The more time and care you spend on your park the more bunnies you will attract. In this world bunnies are a little picky about where they want to settle down so make sure you create a lovely little home for them!
Once you have created a descent little bunny park for your new inhabitants its time to focus on caring for them. When your bunnies aren’t sleeping ( you don’t want to wake them up! ) make sure to give them snacks and pet them to spread the love throughout your park. Happy Bunnies will contribute into bringing more bunnies into your park.
The more bunnies you will attract the easier it will be to complete your bunny collection. This is similar to the critterpedia you may know from Animal Crossing games. There are many different bunnies and the bigger and better your park is the more diverse bunnies you may attract!
Bunny park is out on Steam now for only $4.99. The game is a true bundle of joy and no matter if you are a huge bunny fan or not, this title is sure to put a smile on your face!
If you love farming, life simulation games and overall Witch-Cutness, make sure to take a look at Alchemy Story as well as Witchbrook the Stardew Valley of Magic and Witches and Little Witch in the Woods!

For those that have been in the dark on this one, Snacko is a farming and life sim game where you get to play as a cat. It is an adorable indie title that I have been keeping an eye on for some time now. As far as I know, this is the only upcoming farming sim where you get to play as a cat, so attention is certainly due.
Just today, developers announced on Twitter that the game now has its own official Steam page. On the page, you can find plenty of information about the game, including videos, images and a bio for the game. Most importantly, be sure to add Snacko to your wishlist while you are there.
In Snacko, you play as a cat named Momo, who alongside another cat character named Miman, are based on the indie devs own cats. With a variety of features including farming, fishing, decorating, and exploring, the aim of the game is to recruit animal friends and rebuild an abandoned island where cats (naturally) rule the world!
