With so many cooking games out there, it is a wonder how anyone might be able to spice up the genre. We need a developer that can add a little flavor to this class of games that has become quite bland and overstuffed. Well, it certainly seems that the team at Blue Goo Games is aiming to do just that with their upcoming kitchen management game that takes place outside of our own world.

The developers of Space Chef describe their game as “a delicious mix of base management and top-down action.” The primary goal of the game is to search the galaxy for all the right supplies and ingredients to get back the epic restaurant that you once owned and managed. You will get to create and customize your very own chef, through whom you will enjoy this adventure.

To get your restaurant back into full swing, there are many different facets of the industry that you are going to need to perfect. First, and most importantly, you must legitimize your business in the eyes of the law. This means permits, licenses, safety codes and possibly the recovery of an ancient sacred artifact. You know, the usual stuff.
Next, you will need to create a pretty sweet menu; one that will keep customers happy, and keep them guessing about what exactly it is they are eating. To do this, you will also need all the proper tools you would find in any professional kitchen; grills, worktables, stand mixers, sassy serving robots.

After you have the back of your place totally stoked out, its time to focus on the front, where the money givers sit. Decorate your dinner to the nines and watch as your customers sit and stare in awe of your establishment as they stuff their silly faces. After all is said and done, you will need to impress some hard-nosed judges to get that elusive five star restaurant and live the rest of your days in culinary bliss.

Overcrowd: A Commute ‘Em Up is a different game. If you have played and enjoyed games like Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo in which you manage and build your own amusement park, or Zoo – you will most likely be intrigued by this new indie game.
Overcrowd: A Commute ‘Em Up takes you back to the 90s where you are tasked to build a tran station from the ground up. Starting with only a few bucks in your pocket you will need to decide what to build first. Add a couple restrooms, stores and decor to get your train station going.

Even though you start out with just a small station the game will eventually become very crowded. You can build up to four levels deep connecting each level with escalators, elevators and of course traditional stairs. Once your train station becomes this big it will become increasingly more difficult to manage the large crowds you are attracting.
To manage the many people wanting to take the train every day it will also be your job to hire staff to keep the place clean and organized. Kiosks need to be staffed, restrooms need to be cleaned so make sure you hire the right people for the right job.
The game is currently available on Steam, if you are still on the fence, make sure you take a peak at the trailer below!

Everafter Falls is an Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley inspired indie game coming to Nintendo Switch. This super cutesy title is developed by only one person much like Stardew Valley. In this game, you find yourself in the beautiful world of Everafter Falls after a freak accident. But rest assured, you donβt have to be alone as you can invite another friend to play with you via split screen co-op.

Everafter Falls features a rich farming system and with it a unique solution to getting the majority of your farming chores done quicker. As you advance in the game you can build drones that will help and take some hard labor of your hands.
In addition you can also adopt pets that are not just cute and cuddly but can also help you with some work around the farm and beyond! The developer explains that βyour pet can help you dig, water and fight, plus learn other abilities as you progress.β I love the idea of having a pet and it being useful makes it just so much more fun!
Now that the kickstarter campaign has launched, you can do your part to help this game become everything it can be, while earning yourself some goodies. The kickstarter page has everything you would want to know about the game, not to mention a list of all the goodies you can unlock at each level of donation.

Harvest Moon paved the path for adorable farming simulation games and Stardew Valley has modernized the franchise. Harvest Days aims to elaborate on the farming genre by taking it to the next level but still sticking to the recipe that makes these games so much fun.
In this indie game – developed by only two people, father and son, you will be able to grow your biggest farm yet. Plant the crops you desire, pickup a watering can and help your seeds sprout. The relaxing and yet so satisfying feeling of growing and harvest your own crops is delivered through a cute colorful world.
The entire game is set in an open, living and breathing 3D world that invites you to explore a mysterious forrest, make friends with the town folks and of course build your very own farm in a grand way!
In addition to farming it appears we will also be able to care for cute livestock. Taking a peak at the few movie clips that have been released for Harvest Days, we can already see chickens and cows roaming around your farm.
While no in-depth information has been shared yet, it would be safe to assume that we can adopt and raise our very own animals. After all what would a farm be without at least a few animal friends running around?
Harvest Days is currently in early development and there is no exact release date for the game just yet. You may already follow the small developer team on Twitter right here. I will be sure to share more information about this adorable upcoming farming indie game in the near future!
If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out Lonely Outpost – considered Stardew Player on another Planet – offers a lot of new ways to tend to your crops, get married to town folks and more!
Following the announcement of a brand new Harvest Moon game, XSEED Games and Marvelous announced a whole new Story of Seasons game coming to Nintendo Switch!

Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival is a small indie game where Mayor Bones invites you to save Halloween. The lack of jack-o-lanterns can be felt throughout the entire town and only you can make a difference.
Start carving pumpkins and create your very own unique designs to bring back the Halloween spirit to Ghost Town. The game lets you create pretty much any design you desire and with the easy to use carving tools you don’t even need to be an artist to get an adorable, spooky or crazy pumpkin ( or two ) carved in time for the festival.
Once you have finished your pumpkins you can submit three of your best designs to the towns annual Halloween festival and even share it with the rest of the world!
But be aware, carving pumpkins is no joke and reports of ghosts have been submitted to the mayor. Rumors have it, that if enough pumpkins are made, ghosts might pay the town a visit!

In case you missed out, My Time At Portia is an absolutely adorable RPG game developed by Pathea Games and published by Team17, the same publishers of such awesome titles as Infinite Minigolf and Automachef. Portia has received high review scores for its super cute graphics, heartfelt story line and adorable interactions system. My Time at Portia is currently available on all major consoles, as well as on PC.
Today Pathea Games announced that the much request sequel is in the works and heading to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and Steam / PC. Sandrock will take the player to a whole new world with an entirely new storyline crafted around new town folks and plenty of mysteries to uncover.
The new world will feature a lot of new characters you can meet. The developers also promise that the new storyline will be deeper and more engaging than you may have seen in Portia.
In a statement Pathea said “a vastly enriched storyline, hundreds of side-quests boasting over 30 completely new characters, each getting more attention than before with their own story to discover, as well as the return of a few familiar faces for fans of the series.”
In addition some old familiar faces may make a return as well, so be prepared to meet old friends or… frenemies.
For the very first time the franchise will feature a coop mode. You will be able to travel to yet another new world, build a workshop together and experience a separate storyline with your loved one.
Multiplayer was one of the features often requested for Portia, I am personally very excited to finally be able to share the experience with a friend!

The game will feature new ways to turn your little space into a thriving workshop with “intricate set of machines that all work together to produce parts of huge structures…”. In addition there is also a workbench that will feature hundreds of different things you can craft to make your time at Sandrock as pleasant as can be!

My Time at Sandrock was expected to release via Steam Early access in March, 2021 however a little bit more time is needed so the current release window is sometime this year – the console version for PlayStation and Xbox will follow after with no exact release date given yet. Take a peak at the announcement trailer below!
Pathea Games is also seeking funding on Kickstarter to be able to self-publish this game. This will allow the small studio to make decisions on their own and listen more carefully to community feedback. If you want to be part of this and reserve your copy early, you can contribute right here.

In case you missed it, Little Witch in the Woods is an upcoming adorable indie game about living the life of a little witch that resides in the forest. Brew potions, resource ingredients, make friends and just enjoy your magical life in this beautiful world.

The developers recently invited myPotatoGames to check out their game at the Busan Indie Connect Festival, and you can bet your bottom dollar that there is a demo review coming very soon. Until then, we have been given permission to share some new details that the developers have released for the festival.
The developers have released a description of their game in their own words, which I’d like to share here.

” ‘Little Witch in the Woods’Β is a relaxing game to experience Witch’s daily life in fantasy world. Our team has focused on “Witch’s daily life”, and so this game don’t have a grand story but many small touching stories which we can encounter in our daily lives. We have been and will try hard to convey emotion and joy.
The various NPCs each have their own unique stories and quests that help the player become immersed in the game. The player will meet more NPCs as game progress, who will settle in the newly improved village. If you can win the trust of the characters, you can also hear their secret stories. “

As previously mentioned, the developers of Little Witch have given us access to their game, and a ton of new details will be coming very soon.
If you would like to get a closer look at the game and its developers, check out my interview with SunnySideUp.
