Snacko is a super adorable farming sim where you and your friend venture to Snacko Island in search of a new life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. When you arrive, you find the island a little run down and empty. In fact, there’s only one resident who’s kind enough to get you settled into a new home. From there, it’s up to you to restore the town and the rest of the island. It’s not just some island, though. It features a deep, rich past full of mystery that you also get to discover!

Run around the idyllic island collecting resources, fishing, exploring, and farming. There are 4 distinct biomes for you to traverse, each with their own unique items to collect, plus 4 different shrines to encounter. You can fish up over 20 different types of fish across the island, as well as grow 12 crops and raise cows and chickens for produce. Then, restore the town! Use resources to rebuild the ruins of buildings. Set up a grocery store and other shops to revive the scene. Invite different characters to join you on the island, too. Those shops will need workers and people to sell to! There are 20+ different NPCs you can encounter, and a system in place to make re-inviting villagers easier so you can befriend everyone!

    Quests and Villager Overhaul

There’s already some great stuff in Snacko. Being able to save during the day and sleeping wherever you can using beds and sleeping boxes you’ve placed. Talk about stress-free exploring! Of course, there’s a ton more in this lovely little game, but an upcoming update promises some equally exciting things. Buckle up for a lot of improvements and changes!

First up is the restriction on villagers. You can now have everyone all at once! The blueprint shop and other recipes are no longer all unlocked at the beginning. MIAO will act more like a guide, nudging you in the right direction of progression instead of unlocking everything. In fact, there’s now quests you must complete to unlock them. Some of these unlocks happen through Guild quests. However, you’ll encounter several different ways to unlock new dye recipes, cooking recipes, and crafting recipes. Of course, the Guild function is brand new too! Each Guild has its own representative(s) that possess their own personalities and will communicate with you through quests and deliveries. Some of the reps even have mini story arcs for you to experience.

Villager quests have also been overhauled in Snacko, and there are new ones added to the mix. These quests will unlock recipes like Guild quests, but also unlock new shop items. Plus, you can get to know your villagers more through these questlines! Villager dialogue pools have also been overhauled to make more sense and give you a chance to see them all. For example, Rejka will no longer be confused when you speak to him in the morning while dating. The idea is to move away from the mundane cycle of talking, gifting, and repeating to build a relationship. The developers want to give you more options to build your bonds, which is great!

    UI Changes and More

There have been some UI changes for expanded dark mode, which includes a new quest and UI to accompany it. Dark mode has been expanded beyond the dialogue boxes, which is great for those of us who prefer less brightness. Dark mode tones down some of the bright green grasses and shiny blue waters. And I think the developers achieved a great balance without sacrificing the beauty of their art and color palettes!

Crafting recipes can now be tracked on the Snacko HUD just like quests. No more second guessing what you just read or keeping a thousand sticky notes all over your desk like me. Simply track the crafting recipe like you would a quest for better efficiency. You can even pin the recipe to match the quantity of items you want to craft. So, if you want to make 3 softwood lampposts, pin the recipe for 3 to track the total resources needed. You can also buy basic resources from the shops after they’re closed now, too.

Now you can charge your sword into a dash function. The dash can be used mid-air to achieve a type of pseudo flying. The distance you travel is dependent on the charge amount, but if you string smaller dashes together, you’ll stay airborne. The pickaxe can bounce you around, too. When you’re mid-air, like from a jump, you can use the charged pickaxe to bounce off things like cliffs. So, fly around or bounce around town for a fun new way to travel!

    Release Date

This Town & Guild Update for Snacko is live now! So, hop on and get familiar with all these cool new features! You can find this absolutely adorable game on Steam.

Explore, Fish, Farm, Befriend, and Build as Momo the Purple Cat

Play as Momo, a kitty that craves a new rural lifestyle, and travel with best friend Mikan to a deserted island. However, the island you’ll settle on is cursed and attracting monsters! Players will have to explore dungeons, mines and new regions, all while revitalizing a ruined village.

To help along the rebuilding effort, farm, cook, craft, fish, and give gifts. Send job postings to other furry friends and invite them to live in your community! You can even take on part-time jobs yourself. Snacko also has quite the extensive decorating mechanic with snap-grids and free rotation to all buildings and items. With a free camera, you can easily move, place, dye, or put away any object anywhere.

Coming Soon to PC, Switch, PS4/PS5

Snacko is developed by Bluecurse Studios and published by Armor Games Studios. They recently announced with their new trailer below that their cute cat sim adventure is also coming to PlayStation. The game is releasing soon in 2022 on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5.

Be a part of the creation of the super cute farming and life sim game Snacko!

For those that have been in the dark on this one, Snacko is a farming and life sim game where you get to play as a cat. It is an adorable indie title that I have been keeping an eye on for some time now. As far as I know, this is the only upcoming farming sim where you get to play as a cat, so attention is certainly due.

Well, now is your chance to help this amazing indie title become everything that it is meant to be. The developers have just launched their kickstarter page so that fans can join in on the fun of assisting with the creation of the game. Simply help out with a little funding, and you get the peace of mind knowing that you did something to make this great game even greater.

    Snacko kickstarter

What else is in it for you?

Not only that, but (as is customary with Kickstarter) you can also get some pretty sweet goodies by chipping in. The more you donate to the cause, the more you will get in return (as if the knowledge of helping creation wasn’t enough). Starting at the $20 donation mark, helpers will even get a PC key for the game upon release.

Along with the launch of the campaign, the developers also released a new trailer, which you can view below. I know that after seeing my first Snacko trailer, I was all in, and I’m sure you will be too.

    Excerpt from Kickstarter page!

“All ashore on Snacko, a farming adventure sim starring cats, by husband and wife development team Bluecurse Studios, with support from our publisher. You can wishlist Snacko on Steam right now! It’s a game about finding your home, taking risks, and appreciating the big, wide world. Snacko is inspired by classics like Rune Factory and Harvest Moon, while also drawing from The Legend of Zelda series and even early 2000s MMORPGs.”

Snacko is an adorable upcoming farming simulation adventure game. The game is currently in development by indie studio bluecurse, which consists of husband and wife, Jordan and Erisa. Snacko has a tentative release date of 2021 for PC via Steam and itch.io, and will hopefully make its way to other consoles shortly after.

In Snacko, you play as a cat named Momo, who alongside another cat character named Miman, are based on the indie devs own cats. With a variety of features including farming, fishing, decorating, and exploring, the aim of the game is to recruit animal friends and rebuild an abandoned island where cats (naturally) rule the world!

The cat-tastic indie game’s devs recently posted an update on Snacko in the form of Devlog 18. New features of the game include an in-game camera to take picture purr-fect photos, the ability to place food as decorations (a fitting feature given the game’s title), and the ability to undertake quests.

    Taking Photos

Players will now be able to take photos when playing Snacko. The game’s camera sits in your equipment slots and can be used like any other equipment to enter photo mode. The camera has a handy viewfinder which allows you to study the world around you. If you find something or someone new, it will show up as ??? Once you’ve snapped a photo, you can save it to your photo album which is accessible through the journal.

    Placing Food As Decorations

If you already follow Snacko on Twitter, then the chances are you may have already guessed this. Players will now be able to place food as decorations in the game. The devs have begun adding 3D models to Snacko for all the different foods available. This feature will allow you to make your home more cozy, or “you can just place random loaves of bread around town”.

    Quests

The game’s indie developers have begun to implement quests and the bulletin board to Snacko. Quests are a great way to learn the ropes of farming with the added bonus of simultaneously getting some awards. You may even be able to use the game’s camera feature to snap some pics that meet certain requirements and share them with fellow townsfolk.

    New Building Zones

Previously, the areas where you could build in Snacko were limited to specific places on the game’s map. Now, however, building areas have opened up to the majority of your farm and the town where there’s flat terrain. This will allow you to do things like line dirt paths with fences and place things along the side of the map.

Alongside these new features, a few comparison photos were shared showing how the game has developed graphics-wise since last year. To see these pictures and read more about the game’s progress, you can check out the devlog here.

Snacko is currently in development and is scheduled to release on PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021, it’s a little bit to go but perfection can’t be rushed, right?
