In Cozy Grove, you play as a Spirit Scout who lives on an ever-changing island. As a scout, you spend your days wandering the island, finding hidden secrets, and helping out the inhabitants. Plus, you can go fishing, befriend the locals, and collect spirit animals. This beautifully hand-drawn game takes after Animal Crossing with its real time sync. You can complete about an hour’s worth new quest content each day, then kick back and relax with some fishing or decorating. It’s a super cozy, laid-back gaming experience.
And the developers Spry Fox LLC have an equally cozy new sequel out now! Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is an equally gorgeous hand-drawn game with new fun. You’re still on a lovely little island, but now you must help your bear neighbors, who happen to be ghosts. The others who live on the island will also need your help. Fulfill quests for them as necessary to earn fun rewards. You can also give the islanders gifts to really show them you care!
Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit will have you gathering resources, crafting items, cooking delicious dishes, fishing, and much more on your exciting new adventure. Use your skills to craft tons of furniture and decor items to decorate the island with, too. It needs some color and a personal touch to really shine. Adopt cute animal companions while you’re out exploring, and play with them or pet them. With so much to do and so many fun islanders to encounter, it;ll be hard to be lonely in this adorable follow-up game!
You can pick up Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit on Google Play and Apple App Store now!

If you have ever played Don’t Starve you will most likely be very familiar with the concept of Cozy Grove. For the ones who haven’t – much like in Don’t Starve – a survival game as the title already gives away, In Cozy Grove you will find yourself on a haunted island and you will be tasked to bring color back to it.
The haunted island may appear empty and overtaken by florals but as you continue to explore and gather resources you will quickly begin to build up a new camp on the deserted and remote place and breath some life back into it.
The game features a huge hand-drawn world that becomes more colorful as you help the haunted spirits around. As you embark on your adventure you will meet dozens of different and interesting characters and spirits.
Everyone you meet will have his or her own backstory that you uncover over time.
While the game has plenty of storyline that you may indulge in, just like in Animal Crossing New Horizons you will be able to gather resources to craft all the items you desire. Build up your camp and create the coziest place you can possibly imagine.
In addition you can also fill your spare time by spending an afternoon fishing, gardening or other activities you find joy in. In Cozy Grove there is always something to do and only you decide which directions your very own haunted island will take.
Cozy Grove is now available on Nintendo Switch and Steam and has received many updates since the launch of the game.
If the haunted island in Cozy Grove got you in the mood for more spooky and magic focused games, take a look at this list filled with magic focused games.
The first Cozy Grove is a game about camping on a haunted island with a real-time day/night cycle mechanic like Animal Crossing. As a Spirit Scout, you’ll wander the island’s forest each day, finding new hidden secrets and helping the local ghosts. Activities include: collecting spirit animals, crafting decorations, going fishing. The developers, Spry Fox, have just announced that they are currently working on Cozy Grove 2.
With the sequel underway, that means there won’t be any more major updates for Cozy Grove. Although, you can read the rather extensive post-launch updates here, if you’re interested. So far, all we know is that the sequel will have “a bunch more new ghost bears, in new environments. And Flamey. And Scoutmaster Blake.”
Cozy Grove 2 is still a ways away with an unofficial launch estimate of late 2023. For now, you can check out its predecessor on these platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Epic Games.
For all you Cozy Grove players out there, there is a new update to the game that fixes a lot of little this-n-that’s that players have mentioned need changed. Mostly just bug fixes, but there have also been a few adjustments made to how your player, and NPC’s, interact with the world around them.
For those that have not yet had a chance to try this one out, Cozy Grove has been described as Don’t Starve meets Animal Crossing. It is a life sim game that focuses on helping others, and restoring light and color to the world.
The wonderful hand drawn graphics give the game a real homey feel. And the relaxing pace really helps it carve out its home in the genre. The spooky theme is really what sets it apart from games like Animal Crossing, but you still never really lose that warm/fuzzy feeling.

Project Grove, developed by Antler Studios, isn’t your usual cozy game. It doesn’t have the fluffy, cutesy vibe many other casual games possess. Instead, it projects a more mellow, atmospheric vibe. You play as 70 year old alchemist Professor Edric Tayte who is on a mission to find a cure. The Great Rot has ravaged the living and you want to find the way to stop it. Team up with your robot sidekick, L-P1N, as you set out on a journey through a beautiful world in this first-person adventure.
The world of Dacrima is full of weird and wonderful things, but it also holds the secret to curing The Great Rot. Explore the charming wilds in search of resources to collect. You’ll even encounter the weird and absurd animals of Project Grove or even different kinds of minerals. Use your scanner to discover lore, potion details, and even pieces of the mystery that surrounds the forest. Brew powerful potions as you collect ingredients, too. These potions will help in your journey by unlocking new skills or helping you overcome obstacles. Of course, your trusty friend L-P1N can be used as a placeable platform so you can traverse the forest easier. It’s not as easy to get around at your age like it once was, but your determination and knowledge may be the only way to save the world!
You can find Project Grove listed on Steam now and you can add it to your Wishlist. There is a demo available that is listed separately as Project Grove: Prologue. It releases in Beta this year!
DREDGE is another great and atmospheric cozy game to try out!
